A couple things happening...

My friend Krista who lives in Colorado came down to visit her sister and I got to see her! We have been friends since 8th grade! That's a long time, really! It was good to get together and talk. She is such an awesome friend, wife, and mom!

Clay and I went early Sat morning to "Meet the Troops" at DFW airport. It is such an inspiring time. The soldiers come out and all kinds of people clap and say Thank you, Welcome back! There were families there to meet their son/wife/hubby/daughter/dad/mom. It was amazing. Clay was standing at the end of the line and shaking the soldiers hands and one of them stopped and gave him this patch off of his uniform! Wow! I've gotta do some research and figure out what it is for, but it was so neat and awesome! Clay is even more interested in being in the ARMY or MARINES now. I highly recommend this to everyone!
Then we went to the Boy Scout National Museum and it was pretty cool. There was so much info on Boy Scouts and when it started, what you can do,
where you can go, all that good stuff. Clay's favorite
things were the lazer shooting, pinewood derby cars,
and finding the birds. Here he is with a wax figure of Baden-Powell.

Ok, that's it for now, everyone have a wonderful, blessed day!

Bubbles and sisters

Hey everyone! Well, last week my oldest got a late birthday present from my lil sis Chickie. It was a giant bubble maker that my boys really loved.
It doesn't look like much but it makes the most fabulous bubbles! See...they're pretty big!

Anyway, she lives in Ft. lauderdale with her two precious girls, M & E.
Her 38th b-day!
She teaches Yoga to pregnant moms, and she is finally going to use her Doctorate she recieved back in 1999/2000? I can't remember when it was, but she is starting up her practice. She is also sooooo crafty. She makes quilts for little ones, potholders, fairies, crayons, all sorts of things. So here are some pics of her, her girls, and her crafts.
Chickie and M....
E, what a cute smile!
Fairies! yes, they are handmade!
Quilts.....they are so beautiful!
My boys and I, with my mom, took a road trip to see her last summer for a couple days and had so much fun at the ocean. She's my lil sis!

Pics

Some pics from our weekend!
Fishing Pier that Tristan fished off of right next to our beach Me and Clay
Clay found a coconut, so he stuck a straw in it's "mouth"
A catfish that Tristan caught in the ocean!
Boogie board fun!
Building my favorite drip and shell castle! Feeding the birds in the air...they can catch whatever you throw! We had about 20 flying over us trying to catch food. Of course we had to visit A&M Galveston. Tristan wants to me a marine biologist! Some weird things you find on the beach....a funky toothbrush, old fishing lures, dead crabs, dead fish, coconuts, tons and tons of shells, tons and tons of trash. It really amazed me how much trash there was washed up on the beach, and trash cans right there not even full! Clay and I spent about 2 hours picking up trash on our Monday early morning walk. People were just looking at us like we were crazy! But we put a little dent in the flotsom(washed up trash).
Shrimp and crabs... SHELLS! It was hard to walk barefoot in some places cause of the shells

My weekend.......

Hey everyone, I had an interesting weekend.......we left early on Sunday morning to head down to Galveston island for hubby's conference on turf grass-don't ask! So, we get down there to check in at Moody Gardens Resort, yes, Moody Gardens, we are going to be in a beautiful hotel with the ocean/gulf right out the door, it's going to be awesome! Until....the check in lady says, "Well, you didn't show up Sat night so you have to pay for that night-$190+" Hubby says, we weren't registered for Sat night. CIL says someone called and added on a night and a roll-a-way bed, so you have to pay for it even though you didn't show up! WHAT!!!! Let me talk to your manager...CIL- I am the manager! Let me talk to a different manager--there isn't anyone higher than me here and I say you have to pay for the night! What!!! Do you believe in any customers? We were pretty obnoxious and loud and some people listened.....so in the end we had to pay, but we didn't stay there and we are taking this to our bank and to the higher-ups at Moody and will not pay for Sat night. Needless to say hubby was not in the best of moods for the rest of the day. We found another hotel, right down from the beach, and the boys and I had a great time hanging out at the beach while hubby had to go to the conference for a while. Tristan got to go fishing off the pier and caught some little catfish things. On Monday, the boys and I went to the beach the whole day. We rented an umbrella and two chairs(well worth the $23) and a boogie board and just had fun! Here are some pics from the weekend: something is wrong with uploading...I'll have to try later......

An Award!

Wow, I got an award! I can't believe it! I would like to thank my lovely friend Amorette http://perezfamily4.blogspot.com/ She believes that I am deserving of the Arte de Pico award! I would also like to thank my family for letting momma have her "blogging" time!

So, here are the rules:

You have to pick some blogs that you consider deserve this award for their creativity, design, interesting material, and also for contributing to the blogging community, no matter what language.
*Each award has to have the name of the author and also a link to his or her blog to be visited by everyone.
*Each award winner has to show the award and put the name and link to the blog that has given her or him the award itself.
*Award-winner and the one who has given the prize have to show the link of “Arte y Pico” blog, so everyone will know the origin of this award. http://arteypico.blogspot.com/.

And, I get to pick some friends to give this award to also:
1) To Stephanie for always posting a yummy recipe, http://stephscafe.blogspot.com/
2) To Katrina for living the Jesus way! http://evolsidog.blogspot.com/
3) To Kat for making me laugh every day! http://mamakatslosinit.blogspot.com/
There are others, but they already have the award :) And if you want it, let me know and I'll tag you! Thanks again Amorette!

July 17, 2008

wow, it's already Thurs almost Friday!

This week has just gone by so fast!

The boys and I have done the fishing-it's a 4 pound bass!,

skatepark,
birthday for Joshua(2)and Maddison(1), my great nephew and neice, with bubbles!and swimming thing. Just ordinary boy things! I get busy checking out other blogs and forget to blog on my own! We're getting ready to go down to Galveston for 3 days and can't wait! We're staying at Moody Gardens Hotel (probably too fancy for these rednecks!), and we're going to go to the beach (of course!) and just hang out at the hotel.

Friday night we're gonna have a fish fry for our friend Katrina http://evolsidog.blogspot.com/. She is going to Tokyo, Japan for two weeks as part of iWitness ministries to spread the news of God and Jesus! I am so jealous of her travel, Japan is one place I haven't been. She has already planned a trip to Africa next summer, so if you want to go, send her a comment!

AND, MY HUBBY ROCKS cause he is going to take the boys fishing on Saturday to give me some time by myself to get everything packed and ready to leave EARLY on Sunday. He takes them way out in the boonies to an old friend's ranch. He has 3 tanks with lots of fish in them. This is a big deal because our youngest doesn't really do any one thing for very long, and fishing is a lllloooonnnggg and kinda boring thing to do. Our oldest loves being outside and could fish all day if he had enough water to keep himself hydrated. We don't have a boat, so they have to fish from the water's edge, but they have so much fun being little rednecks for a day!

Ok, have a great weekend and I'll try to post some pics next week!

My hubby rocks

So, I was browsing blogs and happened onto Katy Lin's blog http://honestandlasting.blogspot.com/ and loved her idea of My Husband Rocks so here is my story......My husband rocks because he really is pretty awesome. He works hard all the time on different projects, his latest was installing a sprinkler system for some neighbors up the street to make some extra money for our mini vacation coming up. He worked hard all day Friday and half day on Saturday and then when I asked him to please go get me some yummy ice cream he said "What flavor?" He went and got the most yummy Haagen-Dazs Reserve Fleur De Sel Caramel ice cream and Ben & Jerry's Phish Food. I was in heaven- caramel and chocolate! Two of my favorite things! He made my night and I didn't have to share with the boys cause he got them some special ice cream also-amazing, huh? Ok, more for next week.

Wednesday, Wednesday, Wednesday

Wednesday comes and I'm feeling bluish and don't want to do anything. I took Clay this morning to a skatepark in Allen, heard lots of boys say to my 7 year old, "How do you do that?" "Wow, how old are you?" "You get so much air when you launch yourself over the lip!" He amazes us with his ability to roll on anything with wheels. He started roller blading, skateboarding, biking when he was about 2 and hasn't stopped. The scooter is his favorite to do tricks with, but tricks come naturally to him on all wheels. When we got home the boys left for a waterpark with friends, and I'm left alone to sit and read or get my butt up and clean something(but who wants to do that?) I've got to finish going through my teacher binder to find out what I get to teach some 7th graders, but I just can't do any more right now.

I chanced onto a Max Lucado reading and thought I would share: Contentment: Satisfied? That is one thing we are not. We are not satisfied...We take a vacation of a lifetime...We satiate ourselves with sun, fun, and good food. But we are not even on the way home before we dread the end of the trip and begin planning another. We are not satisfied. Contentment is a difficult virtue. Why? Because there is nothing on earth that can satisfy our deepest longing. We long to see God. The leaves of life are rustling with the rumor that we will--and we won't be satisfied until we do. "Do not worry about anything, but pray and ask God for everything you need, always giving thanks". Philippians 4:6
Thank you God for my husband, my two boys, my family and friends, for a house to live in and jobs to work. For all things I give thanks.
Have you given thanks today?

Turning 12 and having fun!

Tristan had a great birthday! Here are some pics of the huge water slide bounce thing with his friends, and then later shooting off fireworks with his bro and Suzy-his friend that is a girl :)

Yes, it is a snake: Comet the 5foot Corn Snake.Clay really isn't sad, he's just pretending, really! They had so much fun shooting off the Roman Candles and the Artillery Shells!
Pretty fireworks huh?
He and his brother spent the 4th swimming at her pool with her sisters and playing games, and then we went and watched fireworks that the City of Plano put on. One thing about that, we live about 1 mile from where they did the big fireworks so we thought we would ride our bikes there, we all have bikes that work now, and thought it would be easier than walking.......well, it would have been easy if people would listen to who is behind them and which way to move(right/left) and not walking into our bikes! One guy said "I just walk around totally oblivous, not caring who is behind me"? Huh? I told him he needs to pay attention! Another guy said "You guys need to walk those bikes! There are people walking here!" Huh?! We are on bikes, you ride bikes! There were several thousand people there, but it was really a nice time, we picked a place with not too many people. They would stop right where they parked their cars instead of walking a couple hundred feet to a not so crowded spot. And the ride back home wasn't too bad 'cause we just rode on the wrong side of the street where there weren't any cars! Got home safe and sound!
I was watching the Style Network and they had the Messiest House in the US and oh, I just felt sorry for those people. They have to have a mental disorder to not even try to throw stuff away. So today, Travis and I cleaned out the little closet under the stairs! Whew! There was so much stuff in there you couldn't even walk in and look for something. I was embarassed.....so, everything out and then put stuff back in order or toss it. Now, I need to go through our other closets.....there are too many and oh, so much stuff! One day at a time!
